The MIT Emergency Ventilator ( E-Vent ) is a toolkit created for rapid response in a crisis. It is offered as open source, and will evolve as we learn more. The MIT E-Vent is intended for emergency use only when all available conventional invasive respiratory support has been exhausted. Pressure control modes of ventilation should be used when employing inverse ratios as the use of volume control modes might lead to breath stacking and an increase in airway pressures.
